While the usage of ncrack is similar to hydra (except for the nc command) we can pass some options, the options we pass into ncrack depends on which service we're attacking. To launch the Hydra tool, we just type the command “hydra”. It will then start to launch the tool, and will ask you for the details of the SSH server we want to crack. This will give you a warning window, like the below, which is asking you to confirm that the password is correct.

This flag tells Hydra to only keep the standard SSH login messages and try password combinations in a certain order. This will speed up the process, as the process will only try username / password combinations that have not been tried before. If, for example, we have this flag set to “-F fred”, then the process will only try fred for the password. Not fred, fred, fred. This is great if you are trying to crack multiple users.
