The last working version of dsound.dll for Need for Speed 2 SE seems to be the one supplied with DirectX 9.0c that can be extracted from the "DirectX End-User Runtimes (March 2008)" package: -us/download/details.aspx?id=23611

I will try to run the game with a copy of the old dll in the game folder: it is possible that this way there is no need to changes in DxWnd. If so, I would put the old dll in the redist folder and a not in the game exported file.

Are you still checking those comments? Does your dgVoodoo 2 solution still working with the most recent update dgVoodoo 2.5 ? How did you make it working with that program? I tried using his files but with no success running the game. Installed the game with second solution and then used the SDB file but no success with dgVoodoo. Would appreciate your info about it. I imported the "Need For Speed 2 SE.dxw" file and then started the game only to notice that it crashed imediately. So I finaly figured out that I need to restrat DXWnd for the imported settings to work.

Strangely if I just create a new entry for the game and set the "use DLL injection" option it works without the need to save and restart Dxwnd. It only seems to be the case if I use a .dxw export file.

Doesn't work buddy it sends the message "MOVIE FILE NOT FOUND", even though I have all files required in the same main folder. EDIT: Just checked the RIP version and it works quite well but the nfsw.exe works for that RIP version, not the complete one (The ISO). Would appreciate if somebody can build up the no-cd for the complete installation. Or would love learning how to do so.

Well, no, it's not DxWnd that makes the difference, I suppose it is the game bundle. If you apply the configuration to a NFS2 installed from CD probably the CD will have to be mounted, but if you use a pre-patched RIP it will not require it. DxWnd, being a generalized tool, patches whatever is in the configuration, no matter if original or cracked, and sometimes works. Let's say that in this case it works.

Rather than trying to set compatibility modes for the game yourself, the best way to get the game to work is to use the pre-made compatibility patch available here. I actually solved the problem already. I read somewhere, after Some searching, That to run the game normally, you should make a batch file in the installation directory.Only thing wrong with it is That the sound is still messed up. I dont know how to get both the sound (with processor affinity like in the post) and the colors to run smoothly together, so i chose color over sound.

Nine files not 16 were in the root of the cd. It would not run; or cd was not found. The cd was in the cd player. German/english patch was blind to find cd in the drive. I went through all patch processes; and even followed processes to the t. Windows 10 knew the cd was in the drive- incompatible program. What a waste of my time !!
